Where our data comes from
Every figure on Vriksai — density, Janka hardness, shrinkage coefficients, strength values, durability classes — is taken from published, citable sources, never estimated or crowd-sourced. Our primary references are the USDA Forest Products Laboratory Wood Handbook (GTR-190), The Wood Database, PROSEA (South-East Asian species), EN 350 durability classifications, the Finnish ThermoWood Association classification, and Indian Standards IS 875 and IS 1902. Each species and reference page lists its sources at the bottom.
How formulas are verified
Calculator formulas are verified by an automated regression suite whose expected values are derived independently from the published source — not read back from our own code. A page may not claim a formula is verified unless a test actually drives it; this is enforced mechanically before every release. Where a formula could not be independently verified, the page says so openly.
Who reviews the content
Content is written and reviewed by the Vriksai editorial team — working timber and wood-processing professionals in India, handling species selection, thermal modification, and international timber trade daily. We publish what we use in our own trade.
How updates work
Every page carries a visible "last updated" date backed by machine-readable metadata. Site-wide audits re-verify data against sources; the most recent full audit was completed on 17 July 2026, covering all 61 calculators and 60 species pages. Errors found are corrected on all affected pages, not just the reported one.
