This Privacy Policy explains how Vriksai ("we", "us", the "Platform") collects, uses and protects information when you use our website and free wood industry tools.
1. Introduction
Vriksai is a free tool platform operated by Vriksai. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting any personal data you share with us. By using this website you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information we collect
We collect very little. Specifically:
- Information you give us voluntarily. Two things on this site send data to our own server, and nothing else does. The contact and tool-request form posts the name, email and message you type to a script on this domain, which forwards it to our mailbox; it is not stored in a database. The feedback card shown after a calculation posts the tool name, your yes/no answer, any category you tick and any comment you write. Both are optional and neither is shared with a third party. If you would rather not use either, the email links on the contact page open your own mail app instead.
Google Analytics 4 (currently active). We use Google Analytics 4, property G-FZDX0MRJK3, on every page. It records standard usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, referring site and time on page, and it sets cookies to recognise returning visits. We use it only to see which tools people find useful. IP addresses are handled by Google. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser.
Microsoft Bing site verification. Our pages carry a Bing Webmaster Tools verification tag. It is a static meta tag, sets no cookies and collects nothing from you.
Advertising. Vriksai intends to participate in the Google AdSense programme to fund the free tools. If and when ads go live, Google, as a third-party vendor, will use cookies (including the Google advertising cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. This policy and our Cookie Policy will be updated before the first ad is served, and the following applies: Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the Google advertising cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, and opt out of some third-party vendors at aboutads.info. For how Google uses data on partner sites, see Google's partner policy.
Consent. Where the law requires opt-in consent for non-essential cookies, such as in the EU and UK, we will ask before any non-essential cookie is set. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.
3. Cookies & advertising
Advertising cookies (future). Vriksai has applied to Google AdSense. No advertising cookies are set until ads go live. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites, and may use device identifiers and approximate location for that purpose.
Analytics cookies. Google Analytics 4 sets first-party cookies to recognise returning visits and to group page views into a session. They hold a randomly generated identifier, not your name or email. You can block them with any browser cookie control or an ad-blocking extension, and every calculator on this site works normally with them blocked.
Feedback. After a calculation you may be asked whether it helped you finish your task. You are asked on your first use of a tool and, if you did not answer, once more around your fifth — not every time, and never again for a tool once you have answered, unless that calculator is revised. What you send is stored on our own server in a plain text file that only we can read: the tool name, the calculator revision, your answer, any category you ticked and any comment you wrote. We keep a salted, shortened fingerprint of your IP address purely to spot repeat spam — it cannot be turned back into an address, and the address itself is never written down. Feedback files are deleted after twelve months. Please do not put names, addresses or confidential project details in the comment box; it is not a secure channel, and we do not need them.
Local storage. Three features keep small amounts of data in your own browser and never send it anywhere: the list of calculators you have recently opened, used to show “Recently used” after a calculation; any project or client reference you type into a calculation report; and how many times you have used each calculator, which is what decides whether the feedback question is shown and is never sent anywhere. Clearing your browser data removes both.
Full detail, including cookie names and lifetimes, is in our cookie policy.
4. How we use information
We use the limited information we collect to: respond to your enquiries; operate, maintain and improve the website and tools; understand which tools are most useful; serve and measure advertising through Google AdSense; and comply with legal obligations.
5. Legal basis & your rights
If you are in a region with data-protection laws such as the EU/UK (GDPR) or California (CCPA), you have rights including access to, correction of, and deletion of your personal data, and the right to object to certain processing. To exercise any right, contact us using the details below. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Data is shared with the providers named in section 3, and with our host, Hostinger, which processes server logs. Google Analytics data may be processed in the United States and other countries where Google operates. We use no other processors, and we transfer no data outside the providers named above.
7. Data security & retention
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. What happens when you use a form. When you submit the contact or tool-request form, the message is emailed to us and a copy is also written to a log file on our server. That log records your name, email address, the message itself, your IP address and the page you submitted from. It is stored outside public reach and is not readable from the web. We keep it as a backup so an enquiry is never silently lost if email delivery fails, and we clear entries once the enquiry is dealt with; the file rotates automatically so it cannot grow indefinitely. We also rate-limit submissions per IP address to stop automated abuse, storing a hashed form of your IP for up to an hour to do so. If you have emailed us and would like that message deleted, write to support@vriksai.com and we will remove it. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's privacy
This is a professional tool platform not directed at children under 13 (or the relevant age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest version. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the revised policy.
10. Contact us
For any privacy question or request, contact us at support@vriksai.com or via our contact page.
