About Pricing Converter

Timber suppliers quote prices in different volume units, making direct comparison difficult and risky. A price "per CFT" looks far cheaper than the same timber priced "per cubic metre" - but they may be identical value. This tool converts any timber price between cubic metre, cubic foot, board foot and Hoppus foot, and calculates the total value of a quantity, so you always compare suppliers on equal footing.

Formulas Used

Price per m3 = Price per unit / Volume_factor of that unitTarget price = Price per m3 x Volume_factor of target unitTotal value = Quantity (in m3) x Price per m31 m3 = 35.3147 CFT, so price/m3 = price/CFT x 35.3147

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do timber prices look so different in CFT vs m3?
Because 1 cubic metre contains about 35.3 cubic feet, a price per m3 is roughly 35 times the price per CFT for the same timber. INR 200/CFT equals about INR 7,063/m3. Always convert to a single unit before judging which supplier is cheaper.
Should I quote customers in CFT or m3?
Match your market. Indian retail and small trade customers usually understand CFT and per-piece pricing. Export and institutional buyers expect m3. Quoting in the unit your customer thinks in reduces confusion and builds trust - this tool lets you hold one cost base and quote in any unit.
Does this include wastage or just clean volume?
This converter works on whatever volume you feed it. If you are pricing rough/nominal timber that will lose volume in processing, calculate your true cost per finished unit using the Yield Estimator or Waste Margin Calculator first, then use this tool to express that cost in your customer's preferred unit.
